Construction of a Gate Base

We where able to get working on the concrete strip that will be at the base of our new gate this evening. As you can see it's still a little wet, but firmed up enough that if it decides to rain tonight it won't mess it up too much, just pitting. We are changing the fense height to a seven foot starting with this gate that evenually will be an automatic remote gate leading to the new carport and storage room that we plan to build after inlarging the master bedroom and the garage conversion. See I do have plans for the future! lol Don't know if any of that will come to fruition, or if we will stay in this home to complete all the "planned" projects, only time will tell. So don't hold your breath out there. Dad, Rick, and David did a great job of using every stitch of the materials remaining from the porch job so we are very pleased about that. I still have the trailer in my back yard, flat tire is keeping it here for the time being. But it's empty now and ready for a tire replacement, but now the gate base needs to completely cure. Not sure when the actual links are going to be up or that swing gate that is suppost to be put up. But We're patient around here, it will get done when it gets done. lol Well as tradition demands the kids that are present at the pouring get to be hand printed and signed. I guess it to prove we do have children and we do believe in child labor around the ol' casa. lol Really they where more the goffers for drinks and coffee and had me that hammer moments of the projects. This tradition of emprinting the concrete has been in place since I was a small child. Every section of concrete at my folk's place has my brother's and mine and the occational neighborhood friend's names and handprints. And that's alot since we have poured all the concrete around my folk's large pool, steps and walkways around the house, up to the shop entrances, and around the flower and gardening patches. That's a lot of concrete people!! And DD has her name in a few as well. And it's imortilized for generations to come. Since we have our stowaway present he's got his mark there also. This final shot has been modified, we didn't feel it would be appropriate to show the names online anymore. Not that many people besides my friends, family, or close customers really read this, but you never know. Well that's about all the time I have this evening for the update. Happy Saturday!!
